Tuner Button Overview

To Make Sure Our Buttons Will Work With Your Tuners Please Review The Detailed Info For Each Tuner Type.

Important Note- The Gotoh and Taylor tuner button shafts are NOT the same! The model below shows the Gotoh tuner’s button shaft. Notice that the flat part of the shaft is tapered! It is wider at the tip of the shaft than it is near the body of the tuner. Also, although it is difficult to tell from the model, the diameter of the shaft is smaller than the shaft of the Taylor tuners. Buttons made to fit the Gotoh tuners will not fit the Taylor tuners.

The next model below shows the Taylor tuner’s button shaft. Notice that the flat part of the shaft is NOT tapered. It is the same width along the entire shaft. Also, the diameter of the shaft is larger than the shaft of the Gotoh tuners. Buttons made to fit the Taylor tuners will NOT fit the Gotoh shaft.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to reuse the screws from your original tuners with your replacement buttons.  When choosing your buttons make note of the length of the screw on your existing tuners.  Putting full size buttons on mini tuners will likely result in the screw being too short to engage in the tuner’s button shaft. Notice the shorter screw barely engages the shaft in the model below.

Putting full size buttons on mini tuners will likely result in the screw being too short to engage in the tuner’s button shaft.

Please make note of the length of the screw on your existing tuners.

Likewise, if you try to put mini buttons on full size tuners the screw may be too long and may bottom out inside the shaft, not allowing it to completely tighten against the button. Notice the screw cannot tighten all the way down to the button.

If you try to put mini buttons on full size tuners the screw may be too long.

Notice the screw cannot tighten all the way down to the button.
